2011 Heartland Classic Golf Outing
The USO of Illinois Heartland Classic is annual event which raises funds for the operations of the USO of Illinois. Inaugurated in 2011, the Heartland Classic raised revenues through participation fees, corporate sponsorships, and on-site fundraising opportunities both on and off the course. The first Heartland Classic (hereafter referred to as HC) was held at the Bolingbrook Golf Course on Monday, June 6th, 2011, and consisted of two rounds, an outdoor lunch, and an evening dinner/auction event. This year’s event is tentatively scheduled for June 4th, 2012.
The HC is an important new fundraising vehicle for the USO of Illinois, but it serves other purposes as well. The event provided our Board of Directors with an event to bring friends, clients, and contacts to which allowed for an introduction of new ‘friends’ to our organization; it raised our profile in the Southwest Suburbs of Chicago; and it provided recreational fun for over 80 service members. It also gave our stakeholders a chance to gather and socialize, as well as to promote the USO brand through media and PR efforts.
