The Miss Universe Organization and Pepsi have partnered with the USO of Illinois to bring care packages to deployed troops in time for the holiday season! Miss USA 2011, Alyssa Campanella and President of the Miss Universe Organization, Paula M. Shugart will accept the USO Angel Harvey – Heart of a Patriot Award on behalf of the Miss Universe Organization at the annual USO Star-Spangled Salute Gala on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Navy Pier in Chicago, Illinois. On Friday, October 14, 2011, prior to the gala, Miss USA will participate in the Pepsi Pack Care Package event where she and USO of Illinois volunteers and representatives from Pepsi will stuff more than 1,000 care packages full of items provided by Pepsi to be sent to deployed troops.
CHICAGO – On Thursday, August 25th, 2011 the USO of Illinois, through the support of Alderman Brendan Reilly of the 42nd Ward, Boss Bar, Miller High Life, Hubbard Inn, AT&T, The Mix 101.9 FM, Star Events and FanFueled, will give summer its last “HOO-AH!” by rocking the block at Clark After Dark. The USO of Illinois’ third annual Clark After Dark block party celebrates America’s military service members and their families. Proceeds from the event benefit the USO of Illinois programs and services that serve over 300,000 military personnel and military families in Illinois.

WHERE: 420 N. Clark St., On Hubbard between Clark and LaSalle
The event kicks off at 4 p.m. and will feature live music by Chicago favorites Maggie Speaks and Liquidated Damages, military-themed games with special activities and challenges, military and vintage military vehicle displays, food and drinks specials, silent and live auctions and raffle prizes. Raffle and/or ticket packages begin at $15 and are available exclusively at FanFueled.com. Clark After Dark will be held in River North at 420 N. Clark Street on W. Hubbard Street, between W. Clark and W. LaSalle.

On Saturday, August 6 Chevrolet continued it’s partnership with the USO of Illinois by supporting families of the Illinois National Guard with a “Mobile School Supply Drive.” Families “shopped” around in new Chevrolet vehicles to find crayons, markers, notebooks, folders and other supplies for the upcoming school year.

USO of Illinois in Chicago’s Memorial Day Parade, May 23, 2009
The USO of Illinois was proud to once again take part in Chicago’s annual Memorial Day Parade, honoring our U.S. Armed Forces, past and present, and remembering all Fallen Heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. USO Volunteers and CNA Volunteers were out in full force, handing out 1,000 USO “Good-Morning Breakfast Goodie Bags” to fortify all military particpating in the parade that day. Volunteers also distributed hundreds of mini American flags to parade spectators lining the street, ensuring a patriotic presence down the parade route. The Northern Illinois Chapter of the Military Vehicle Preservation Association (NICMVPA) joined the USO, generously providing 22 military vehicles that would comprise a proud USO & NICMVPA caravan down the parade route…..The USO of Illinois extends a special “Thank You!” to all Volunteers who helped make Memorial Day Weekend 2009 truly special!
