The USO of Illinois would like to thank their official partners listed below:
PepsiCo is a global food and beverage leader with a product portfolio that includes 22 brands that generate more than $1 billion each in annual retail sales. PepsiCo’s main businesses – Quaker, Tropicana, Gatorade, Frito-Lay and Pepsi-Cola – make hundreds of enjoyable foods and beverages that are loved throughout the world. PepsiCo’s people are united by our unique commitment to sustainable growth by investing in a healthier future for people and our planet, a commitment they refer to as Performance with Purpose. PepsiCo believes being a responsible corporate citizen is not only the right thing to do, but the right thing to do for their business. Specifically, PepsiCo supports our veteran and military communities through our internal employee resource group, PepsiCo Valor. Locally, PepsiCo Valor and USO of Illinois partner together in many ways, including the renovation of the theater room at the USO Great Lakes Center, acting as the Premier Outreach Sponsor of the 2013 Star-Spangled Salute Gala, supporting the 2012 USO of Illinois Carnival at Rock Island Arsenal and producing thousands of “Pepsi Pack” care packages to be sent to Illinois service members all over the globe. In addition, an estimated $120,000 worth of food and beverages were donated directly to our troops in 2013, reaching them through the five USO of Illinois facilities throughout the state. The USO of Illinois is proud to consider PepsiCo a staunch ally in our work as we continue the mission to improve the quality of life of our men and women in uniform.
With 7,600 employees in 48 offices across the country, CNA and the CNA Foundation have a longstanding tradition of supporting local nonprofit organizations that work tirelessly to improve the quality of life in the communities where CNA employees live and work. Headquartered in Chicago, CNA is able to make a profound impact on the USO of Illinois and its ability to project its specially-designed programs and services throughout the state. Utilizing matching gifts, employee volunteerism, collaborative programming, Community Involvement Grants and board service, CNA and the CNA Foundation is unrivaled in support for the troops and their families in our service area. Perhaps most critically, the USO of Illinois has been welcomed into CNA’s corporate headquarters, with free office space and logistical support, thereby freeing up many thousands of dollars that can be applied to direct programming instead. The USO of Illinois is proud to share our address with such a loyal friend to the military and their families.
Since the Hawks’ Stanley Cup season, the Blackhawks have partnered with the USO of Illinois to invite an active duty service member and a veteran to be honored during the team’s famously enthusiastic version of the national anthem, a moment to never forget. The organization also sources ticket donations from their patriotic season ticket holders; holds a Salute to the Military Sweepstakes for their fans; raises over $50,000 annually via an online auction of autographed, one-of-a-kind camouflage jerseys; and supports military youth programming through their Blackhawk Charities grants. While these events and fundraisers provide financial and moral support, the USO of Illinois most appreciates the awareness the partnership has raised in the city of Chicago and looks forward to the possibilities to come.
